Nino Rivera was a Cuban tres player (tresista), probably most famous for playing with the group El Conjunto Modelo and with Israel Cachao Lopez and Mongo Santamaria.[1] He also played with his own band, entitled Nino Rivera Y Su Conjunto and in the all-stars band Estrellas de Areito.
Nino Rivera was born Andrés Perfecto Eleuterio Goldino Confesor Echevarría Callava on April 18, 1919. He started playing Tres when around 9 years old and then joined his first band at 15. In his early life he was a student of the guitarist Guyún (Vincente Gonzalez Rubiera). He became popular during the 1930s.[2]
